Tuesday is book release day, and there are two books that I would love to showcase today.
First up, Jane Steele by Lindsay Faye
Jane Steele, who’s favorite book happens to be Jane Eyre, shares many similarities with the character Jane. After escaping from her awful aunt and cousin, Jane Steele is brought back to her childhood home to act as governess for the new master, Mr. Charles Thornfield. Of course, Jane falls for Mr. Thornfield, but their haunting pasts may prevent a joyful union. Can their romance survive?
Read this if you love books that are inspired by your favorite classics, or if you like dark romances with a twist.
Book Two: The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson
Picture it. Summer 1914. Hugh, on break from medical school, visits his aunt and uncle in the small town of Rye. Beatrice arrives soon after, wounds fresh from the loss of her father who has left her broke, and all she wants is to be left alone to her books and writing. I think you all know what’s coming now, and all before the summer ends…
Read this if you enjoy the setting or if you’re a fan of Simonson’s other book, Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand.
